Rules

4th Annual Crystal Lederhosen Homebrewed Beer Competition!

Please read the all the rules.

  • This is an AHA/BJCP sanctioned competition.
  • Open to any amateur homebrewer age 21 or older. No professional brewers.
  • All entries must be preregistered online per the entry window. All entries must be paid online.
  • All entrees must be received at drop off locations by deadine dates.  No exceptions.

Entries will be judged prior to the awards ceremony at TBD. NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED at TBD, or outside of the acceptance window closing date.

  • All entries must be handcrafted products, made using private equipment by homebrewers -- no use of commercial facilities or brew-on-premises operations, no collaborations with professional brewers on production equipment ("pro-am" beers).

The competition is open to all 2015 BJCP beer, mead and cider styles with exception of:

  • 30A Spice, Herb and Vegetable Beer is replaced by 30A Champion's Cup category.
    • 30A - Champion's Cup is a mead/cider/beer made with last year's BOS winner's selected special ingredient.
    • For 2017: Maple Syrup
    • If not made with special required ingredient, the beer/mead/cider will not be judged.
  • 34A Clone Beer is not accepted, but you can enter your clone beers in the approbrate style and be judged to the style.

Limited to 10 entries max, and 1 entry per BJCP sub category.

Mead entrants and "Brewer's Specifics" Note: Brewer's Specifics is to be used only to overcome a software bug with traditional meads, and braggots.  Please put base style of a braggot, or honey variety used in this field.  All other entrants should not use this field, as it is not necessary. (If the defect is fixed as planned in June, then this field and rule will be removed.)

Styles will be grouped into the awards categories listed below. Please see BJCP for information on styles.

The 2015 edition of the BJCP Style Guidelines will be used to judge all entries. It is the brewer's responsibility to determine the correct category / subcategory in which to enter their beer(s), and to provide additional information where required. (The online entry forms will prompt you for all necessary information, such as special ingredients, style descriptors for meads and ciders, etc.) The competition is not responsible for beers entered in the wrong category, or missing information that would be useful to the judges.

The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries, mailed entries that are not received by the entry deadline, or entries that arrived damaged.

The Best of Show judging will be determined by a Best of Show panel based on a second judging of the category winners, and based on the entry that is best brewed to the style per 2015 BJCP style guidelines.

Any deviation from the rules established here MUST be confirmed by the competition organizer and/or committee prior to the entry due date or else entries may be disqualified. If you have any questions about the rules for this competition please contact the organizer! We are not responsible if you fail to understand or follow the rules and your entries are judged inappropriately or disqualified.

Bottles will not be returned to entrants.
