Best of Show

The 1st place entry in each category will advance to the Best of Show (BOS) round with a single, overall Best of Show, and runner up selected.  The Best of Show judging will be based on the beer that is best brewed to the style per 2015 BJCP style guidelines.

Best of Show will receive the Crystal Lederhosen, yeah that's right, Crystal Lederhosen.  Ok, a glass trophy plaque with lederhosen logo etched on it.

And a Blue Best of Show ribbon that is huge.

And be brewed by (TBA)

The first runner-up Best of Show will receive a large white ribbon that says First Runner-Up Best of Show……. Large like the BOS one.

Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in these categories:

1 - Amber/Brown Ale
2 - Belgians
3 - IPA  
4 - Lagers  
5 - Pale Ales
6 - Porter & Stout
7 - Mead Cup
8 - Cider Cup
9 – Wheat/ Rye
10 – Wiener Dog Class
11 – Strong  Arm Class
12 - Barrel Class
13 - Fall und Oktoberfest Beers 
14 - Champions Cup      

  • First place will a Yellow Ribbon and a special stein/mug..
  • Second Place will receive a Red Ribbon.
  • Third Place will receive a Black Ribbon.


The 2019 Best in Show winner will be given the opportunity to brew their winning recipe alongside (TBA)

The 2019 Champion's Cup winner will be given the opportunity to brew their winning recipe alongside (TBA)

The 2019 Mead Class and Cider Class winner(s) will be given the opportunity to brew their winning recipe alongside (TBA)

(Actual recipes made will be within limits of each facility's production system, ingredient sourcing, and legal restrictions).

Scores and winners will not be announced until mm/dd, at Cooper's.

Awards will be available for pick up after the ceremony concludes. Awards and score sheets not picked up will be mailed to participants. Results will be posted to the competition web site within 24 hours. (Hey - we will be at Cooper's Ship Bar, so gives us some slack - come out and enjoy it yourself too!)

Circuit Qualification

While not a qualifier for any other event, we encourge you to enter the other region's competition, The Conical Cup.

For AHA/BJCP sanctioned: Malt Madness and War of the Worts are well run, with great judging feedback.
